A Great Exercise Tool October 30, 2004 D. M. York (Manchester, UK) 160 out of 176 found this review helpful
I have wanted to get a pedometer for a long while and am glad to say that I bought this great little gadget which has completely turned around my attitude towards exercise. From inserting the battery it asks for the time, your weight, and then your stride length (which it explains how to calculate) and then you're ready to start walking! It comes with a belt attachment and a strap which makes carrying it a lot easier. Over the course of the day it records how many steps you have made, calculates how many calories you will have burned from these steps and even calculates an estimate of how far you are liable to have walked. Once it reaches midnight on the built-in clock your daily exertions are reset and your activities are stored on a 7-day memory. Stunning! My one and only criticism is that if you happen to travel in the car whilst carrying it, the occasional bumps can add to your readout, and since it can't be turned off this can be a tiny problem. Otherwise this pedometer is fantastic. Great value for money, it is small and compact but most important of all its been motivating me to walk more and more each and every day.
Accurate and discreet pedometer July 24, 2008 J. E. Messina (Hove, England) 138 out of 153 found this review helpful
It's pricey, but it's worth it. I owned two other pedometers before this one, and they both broke when I accidentally knocked them from the waistband of my trousers. This one has an extra clip to avoid that. It's also really versatile; I like that I can wear it on my waistband or put it in my pocket. In addition, it's easy to use and programme, and I love that it can keep track of aerobic steps, too. This little gadget makes fitness a bit easier, and I'd recommend it to anyone!
Excellent piece of kit - well worth the money February 23, 2005 A. J. Sudworth (UK) 135 out of 150 found this review helpful
I bought this in the usual post Christmas flush of new resolutions and its really helped me to get an idea of how little exercise I was doing. Its got to the stage now where the poor dog has to walk further at night because the Step track pro says I'm just 500 steps short of the 10,000 taget for the day. The steps count function is great in that you do not need to worry about calibrating stride length for that to be worth knowing. If you calibrate the device for your stride length then you get the details on how far you've walked. The best bit for me is that I just put it in my pocket and forget about it. You can recall the last seven days activity as well and thats good in that I saw that at the weekends I was more active (as you'd suspect) and where I needed to change my routine to make the target on the weekdays. Great device with practical usage - but be warned ! You will become obsessive about your step count!!
One small step for man... May 22, 2009 D. Levin (Leeds) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This Omron pedometer is brilliant. If, like me, you're trying to shed a few pounds but can't be arsed with the gym - walking is great and this is the perfect accompaniment.
Make sure you enter the length of your average stride fairly accurately so it counts your steps properly (you can test it by guessing a length, then walking a few steps and checking it's counted the right amount, and if not - alter accordingly), then you're away. I just chuck it in my bag or my pocket in the morning, then have a look a few times a day.
It comes with info about what you should be aiming for (the magic number seems to be 10,000 steps per day, which I find is about an hour and half's walking in total) and once you've got that (or any) target in your head, you'll find yourself walking more than usual to make sure you hit or get close to it. And with small adjustments (getting off the bus a few stops early, walking up stairs instead of getting the lift, etc etc), you'll find it's not as difficult as it sounds.
It's also handy to see how many calories you've burnt off and the distance you've walked.
So yep, I wholeheartedly reccomend it. Happy walking!
Discover just how inactive you really are April 17, 2009 M. McMaster (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My wife pointed out on several occasions that my weight gain problem was due to my inactivity! I bought the pedometor to prove her wrong. Guess what? She was right! It is said we should do 10,000 steps per day and I wasn't even half way there. Well I am now and I have lost weight, not only that I found this product to be so good I recommended it to friends and I have bought 6 from Amazon. For such a small amount of cash this is a great investment.
